Let's talk exteriors!
Our house is a mix of siding and board + batten, both in white. We looked into doing hardboard but it was significantly more expensive. After seeing the cost of that, it solidified our decision of siding with board + batten.
We debated the style of siding to get and we ultimately got ours in the dutch-lap style. I love the look of it!
We also opted for all white accents, including our columns and the details in the gables.
One thing that was a no brainer for me: shutters. I didn't love the look of shutters on our house which also meant we got to cut costs there.
I've also gotten a lot of questions about our roof, which is a dark gray even though it looks black from the ground.
The cost for all of these exterior options can vary, so if you're interested in certain options, be sure to talk with your builder about it so they can price it out. That way you can make an informed decision about what you want for your home. If you're working on a tight budget like we did, don't give up! There are so many ways to get the look you want while still staying in your budget.
