Building 101: Paint Selections

This blog was previously published, but shared again for building 101.

Now that we are in the house, I'm so glad I was picky about our paint selections! We went back and forth on what we wanted, I even made a spreadsheet and we put in two change orders for paint. I get a lot of questions on paint, so I thought I'd give it a designated blog post!

This is a nice soft white for all of our interior trim that isn't too harsh! You can really see it on the trim around the windows in this picture.

Throughout (Living Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, Laundry Room and Hallways): Fog by PPG Paints

This was a tough one. We decided on Fog because it's light but still warm and it pairs nicely with our trim color!

Master Bedroom and Master Closet: Solitary State by PPG Paints

For the master bedroom, I wanted something gray but not too heavy. This was the perfect combination of soft and light for the space.

Master Bath and Hallway Bath: Tundra Frost by PPG Paints

This was a last minute change and I'm so glad we picked it. It's really light and bright, which compliments the brightness of the master bath and the not as bright hallway bath.

Half Bath/Powder Room: Pegasus by PPG Paints

Can you believe I almost painted this room dark gray? I made a last minute switch to this nearly white shade and I'm obsessed.

Okay, I am way out of my comfort zone on this one. If it were up to me, all of our walls would have been shades of gray and white. However, since these are our guest bedrooms, Mr. FarmhouseintheField encouraged me to add some color. This was light enough for my palette while still adding that pop of color for him.

This is such a nice honeyed shade, and this is a pick directly from Mr. FarmhouseintheField. I have to admit, even though I planned on painting this room gray, I am pleasantly surprised by this pick. It's warm and inviting, exactly as a guest room should be.

Note to add- Our builder prefers to use PPG Paints, that's why all of our selections are PPG Paints. When I originally searched for paint colors, I had an awful time trying to find farmhouse PPG paint shades, gray PPG paint shades and recommended PPG paint shades which is part of the reason I put together this list. However, there are many similar shades with different paint companies that are equally as beautiful!
